The Subtle Knife / La Daga

The next chapter of the "His Dark Materials" Saga is "The Subtle Knife". The book continues the story about Lyra Belacqua that I have posted earlier. This book begins introducing us a new character, a boy named Will Parry, who run away from his world crossing through a window in the air, which conducts directly to another parallel world. Will is from our world and in this new world he met our heroine Lyra. They passed back and forth through the window between the two worlds. Lyra tries to uncover the nature of the Dust meeting a scientific named Dr. Mary Malone. Dr. Malone is interested in the nature of the Dust which she called particles or shadows (this remainds me the particles' dealing in the Quantum Mechanics). Meanwhile Will unraveled the mistery about his father. A friend of Mrs. Coulter stole the alethiometer and send Lyra to stole a weapon called "The Subtle Knife". Will won the knife and with Lyra recovered the alethiometer. The subtle knife is a powerful weapon able to cut any material and it's able to produce the kind of windows to communicate other worlds. Both, Lyra and Will decide to go where the alethiometer indicates. So they walked over the world of the knife until a certain surprise catch them. Mrs. Coulter don't want to miss any chance to appear on the story. Let's see what will happen!

El siguiente capítulo de la Saga "La Materia Oscura" es "La Daga". El libro continua la historia aobre Lyra Belacqua que hace poco reseñé. Este libro comienza presentándonos un nuevo personaje, un niño llamado Will Parry, quien huye de su mundo atravesando una ventana en el aire, la cual conduce directamente a otro mundo paralelo. Will es de nuestro mundo en ese nuevo mundo conoce a nuestra heroina Lyra. Ellos pasan de ida y vuelta a través de la ventana entre los dos mundos. Lyra trata de averiguar la naturaleza del Polvo conociendo a una científica llamada Dra. Mary Malone. La Dra. Malone está interesada en la naturaleza del Polvo el cual llama particulas o sombras (esto me recuerda al trato que da la Física Cuántica a las partículas). Mientras tanto, Will descubre el misterio acerca de su padre. Un amigo de la Sra. Coulter roba el aletiómetro y envía a Lyra a robar un arma llamada "La Daga Sutil". Will gana la daga y con Lyra recuperan el aletiómetro. La Daga es un arma poderosa capaz de cortar cualquier material y es capaz de producir el tipo de ventanas para comunicar otros mundos. Ambos, Lyra y Will deciden ir donde el aletiómetro indica. Así que viajan por el mundo de la daga hasta que cierta sorpresa los cacha. La Sra. Coulter no quiere perderse cualquier oportunidad de aparecer en la historia. ¡Veamos que pasa!

To the Memory of Michael White

Hello Cyberheads,

Today I have no good news. Adelaide-based therapist, teacher and author Michael White has died suddenly in the United States. Mr White was known internationally as one of the founders of a counselling method known as Narrative Therapy. He collapsed while on a speaking engagement in San Diego, California, and died on Saturday.
As you probably know, I've been involeved in studying and practicing Narrative Therapy since 4 or 5 years ago. I think Michael was sometimes a genius with so great ideas as to free people from suffering and giving them support for the only reason that they were people in need. Not only to recognize the mental conditiong underneath the symptoms but also to give pleople the place they worth as people. I may disagree with the idea of the "Maps of Narrative Therapy" and the use of the "Reflecting Team". Sicerely I have said many times that he was not recognizing the work of other therapists as the late Tom Andersen or even Harlene Anderson but I have to recognized also that he influenced me profoundly with the ways he proposed to free people of social restrains (as the emancipation metaphore).
I send from here a message of hope to his remaining family and I'll surely be conected with his energy everytime I opened one of his books.

Hoy no tengo buenas noticias. Michael White un terapeuta hacendado en Adelaide, Australia, maestro y escritor murió repentinamente en los Estados Unidos. El Sr. White fue conocido como uno de los fundadores de un metodo de consejería conocido como Terapia Narrativa. Se colapsó mientras estaba dando una plática en San Diego, California, y murió el Sábado.
Como probablemente saben, he estado involucrado en el estudio y practica de la Terapia Narrativa desde hace 4 o 5 años. Pienso que Michael fue a veces un genio con tan grandes ideas como liberar a las personas del sufrimiento y dádoles apoyo por la única razón de que eran personas en apuros. No solo reconocer el estado mental debajo de los síntomas sino también darles el lugar que merecen como personas. Podré haber estado en desacuerdo con la idea de los "Mapas de la Terapia Narrativa" y el uso del "Equipo de Reflexión". Sinceramente he dicho muchas veces que no estaba reconociendo el trabajo de otros terapeutas como el fallecido Tom Andersen o incluso Harlee Anderson pero también tengo que reconocer que me influenció profundamente con las formas que propuso para liberar a las personas de las restricciones sociales (como la metafora de la emancipación).
Envio un mensaje de esperanza a su familia que se queda y estoy seguro que estaré conectado con su energía cada vez que abra uno de sus libros.

"4 Minutes" is the first single by American singer-songwriter Madonna (or should I say fake-English) from her eleventh studio album Hard Candy and was released on March 17, 2008 by Warner Bros. Records. It features American singer-songwriter Justin Timberlake and Timbaland who also co-wrote and co-produced the song.
The music video was filmed in London from January 30 to February 2, 2008 with Timberlake and Timbaland, directed by French duo Jonas & François. Personally I don't like that much but while you keep listen to it you get accostume to the rythm. I'm definetly into it... so let me know what do you think

International superstar Mariah Carey reaches a once-in-a-lifetime career achievement as her current single "Touch My Body" goes to #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week and becomes her 18th career #1 hit – surpassing one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 50 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits.

"Touch My Body" takes over #1 with an all-time record-setting 286,000 debut week at #1 on the Billboard Hot Digital Songs chart and a Hot 100 Airplay radio audience now over 115 million.

"Touch My Body" is the first smash from Mariah's highly anticipated hot new album E=MC² , arriving in stores April 15th. Pre-orders are now underway for E=MC², with iTunes customers receiving "Touch My Body" instantly with their pre-order.

"Touch My Body" was one of two songs Mariah performed last month on NBC's Saturday Night Live (show to be re-run on May 3rd). Last week, Mariah gave a special performance of "Touch My Body" and "We Belong Together" after the third season premiere of the MTV reality series, The Hills.
